About Me

About me & my work

banukarakas

I studied philosophy, foreign languages and cinema as part of my undergraduate education at Bogazici University, and moved to Paris in 2011 to study philosophy on a scholarship exchange program. I’ve been working as a translator since 2006 and have focused mainly on literary translation as well as web localization, copy writing, and subtitle translation working with various types of media. In 2019, I translated Cervantes’ masterpiece Don Quixote de la Mancha into Turkish, becoming the second translator to date of this magnum opus in Turkish. Having lived in the Cono Sur region since 2015, I mostly translate between Spanish – Turkish – English and offer consultation services on Latin American literature.
